Guy Crevier (my 7th cousin, 3 times removed) was born in 1912, 103 years ago today, in Quebec.
Here's where he fits in. The simple path of our Crevier family started in France, many of them in Rouen in the northern part of the country. A number of Creviers immigrated to Quebec in the 1600s, like Christophe Crevier (my 9th great grandfather), who was born in Rouen. At 22 years of age, he married Jeanne Evard (14 years old). Seven years later, they set out for Quebec. Some of the most fascinating people in our ancestry are those who were born and perhaps grew up in one country, but then left it all behind to emigrate, eventually raising their family and passing away in their new home country.
Fast forward a couple hundred years, and the Crevier family is well-entrenched in Canadian society. As such, members of several generations were born, raised, and died in Saint-François-du-Lac, PQ. Then, as the American colonies to their south started a new country, the Creviers were no exception to the massive groups of families who chose to re-settle there.
Guy Crevier, whose parents/grandparents/etc were all born and died in Quebec, decided that he should relocate to Massachusetts. So he and his wife, Ellen, did just that, probably in the 1930s. It was in West Springfield, Massachusetts where he owned the Casa Buona Restaurant for 22 years. He retired in 1975.
I don't know a lot about their descendents, but Guy and Ellen left behind 8 children, who perhaps have made for a pretty large family presence in Massachusetts to this day.
Guy Crevier was born July 14, 1912 in Saint-François-du-Lac, Quebec and died September 19, 1985 in Chicopee, Hampdon County, Massachusetts.
