It is common practice, when publishing geneaology data on the web, to respect the privacy of those family members who are still living. You should understand that this practice is only a courtesy; it is not a law. Birth, marriage and death records are all publicly available in the United States. Anyone can freely obtain such information about anyone else (usually from a county clerk's office). Also, birth, marriage and death information is published openly every day in every newspaper that I've ever read.
The ability to hide such private data depends on the capabilities of the program that you use to publish the web content. I am using a program called GEDCOM Browser. This is an original program that I wrote. It builds dynamically generated web pages based on genealogy data stored in the GEDCOM format.
Since I wrote the program, I can pretty much control anything I want. The rule that I follow is that if a person is still alive, the only personal piece of information that I publish is their birth year.
Now, having said all that, I still provide a way to see all available data on all individuals. To do so, click the button below. If you are a close family member, let me know and I'll give you a user id and password so that you have such access.
